Lagos Fashion and Design week 2014

Tents up, runway set, it's that time of the year again.
The Lagos fashion and design week 2014 from the 29th of October to the 1st of November at the Federal Palace Hotel and Casino. It has really been a great fashion year and I cannot begin to comprehend what the fashion week has in store for us.
Lagos fashion and design week (Lfdw) is one of the foremost platforms for Fashion creatives in this part of the world to come together and express themselves. From the models that strut the runway elegantly, to the Designers that display brilliance in their outfits, to the stylists with that touch of creativity, and the press that makes sure we aren't left out, just to mention a few.
Lfdw this year would be featuring top Nigerian designers like Sisiano, April by Kunbi, Mcmeka, orange culture, Iconic invanity, Wana Sambo, Okunoren twins, Mai Atafo, Tiffany Amber and many more.
Also the Young creative entrepreneur and young designer of the year awards / Fashion focus with the top 15 featuring my  homeboy Temitayo Nathan (from Elan.. winners of Fayrouz L'original), Mimi Habiba, Titilayo Bello, Frank Aghuno, Omolale Oyindamola, Michael Shumaker and many others would be holding.
So brace yourselves ;)
There are pictures from Lfdw 2013 as well.
Enjoyy!

What is Fashion, What is Style.

Hi guys,
So! This is my first actual post on the blog and I want us to start with fashion and style in general. Lol of course we all have an idea on what fashion is, I mean, we wear clothes don't we? But still being sure won't hurt :)
Clothes are actually meant for covering ourselves up in some sort of way but fashion and style have modelled this simple reason into an art. Over the centuries it has become a channel for aesthetics, self expression,  creativity, and communication just to mention a few. You can have an idea of the kinda person someone is just by looking at how they're dressed. Let's create this scenario in our heads, you're say chilling in KFC having a snack by 11:00am because you're bad like that Lol and a guy walks in and he's all suited up, you can begin to guess the kind of place he's coming from or going to. Exactly!  He hasn't said anything y'know, you only saw his clothes.
But then, wearing clothes is a norm, fashion goes deeper than just that. Fashion is an art of personal self expression,  it is a reflection of who you are. When you come think of it, it really is. Fashion revolves. It's a cycle, things that were worn back then in the 20s can be seen becoming the trend in the 90s, but something makes the difference and that's Style.
Your style is your personal approach to fashion. If I take 2 ladies out shopping and I buy the exact same things for them, the difference between how they wear those Same things is their personal style.
Figuring out your personal style makes fashion much more comfortable and fun, not trying to obey a set of rules like you'll get shot if you don't, Lol well with time I'll try my best to help those of us that haven't already figured that out do so. Trust me, fashion gets boring, stressful and tiring if there isn't that personal style driving you. It becomes like taking  the Pharmacology lectures I'm taking this year, they are the worst :(
You don't even have to buy the most expensive clothes to look impeccable, that's what style does for you.
So on here we'll be talking about a host of interesting stuff, trends, lookbooks, fashion tips, and collections my work included, What's HOT and what's NOT, and gist chipped in here and there. Lol I'd really love it if you're Involved. Yeah, You!
Feel free to comment, suggestions are very welcome,  let's make this work.
Byee guys. And yeah I have something amazing In store for my next post .. and Lagos fashion and design week in a week!!!!! :D..  Lol Adios. Stay stylish and don't stop slaying.

New Blog - Fashion and Style.

Hi guys,
Welcome to my new blog. My name is Akin Faminu. I'm a medical student as well as a fashion stylist. Lol I know that's not a norm or an expected contrast but yeah, it happened. I have an undying passion for fashion and creativity and even in my very busy schedule I still find time to fuel my passion. So why did I start this up.. it's killing if you have a bottomless pit of ideas in your head and cannot let them out as much as you can, so why not write them. Share them. Open a blog. People love fashion like you, they'll relate. Lol so yeah that's why. Nice to meet you. Yes you! And I do hope you stay.
