Music Meets Runway 2014

It's that time of the year again, Africa's foremost embellishment of music and fashion, the music meets runway 2014, the African edition which is taking place at the Eko hotels and suites, Victoria island, Lagos on the 23rd of December 2014 at 8pm.
Music meets runway is a platform for designers, models and artistes across Africa to unite and showcase a New World Treasure.

I was at the Music meets runway show last year and it was amazing! From the red carpet to the show itself. It featured artistes like 2face, Wizkid, Dbanj, Tiwa Savage, Lola Rae, and my favorite of the night Praiz, he delivered a classic of Rihanna's stay, super impressive.
There were amazing designers as well like Mai Atafo who showcased a ravishing 007 collection, Lanre Da Silva Ajayi,  Deola Sagoe among others.

MMR 2014 promises to be even better, especially because it is an African Edition. The show will feature designers like Osei Duro from Ghana, Kiko Romeo from Kenya,  Sunny Rose from Nigeria, Neville Masondo from South Africa, Mademoiselle Aglaia from Nigeria and Kola Kuddus from Nigeria as well.
Also the Music meets Runway rising Icon finalists this year are AAMAA a la mode, Ms Ray, Sally Bawa, Ayo van Elmer, Elis Major, Liz John Black and Abbyke Dominic.

I can only expect a definitely turned night especially from experience of how good the last one was, met a lot of people, enjoyed the show and what not so the place to be on the 23rd of December is MMR baby!

You can get your tickets from www.afritickets.com, silverbird cinemas, eko hotel reception, ozone cinemas, Genesis deluxe cinemas among others.
Have a lovely day guys.

Mens Fashion - The Basics.

Most people, most of the time judge you by what you're wearing, and if you care about what people think, you should care about what you wear. Life doesn't get much simpler than that.

Hope you guys are having a great weekend :-), I'd like for us to go back to the Basics today, the little things that shouldn't go wrong, because like many other things, when you don't get your basics right, you never really get the real thing right.

Yeah it's true that fashion is dynamic. Very at that. It allows for a whole lot of creativity, trying new things, modifying old things and the like but then again, it's someone that's good with the rules that can break them like a Pro.

The first thing I'd like to draw your attention to is FITTING. There's no use buying the most expensive tuxedo in the galaxy and then you wear it and it looks like someone put you in a sack, Lol that's just wrong. So whatever you're making, buying, or wearing, make sure it fits properly. Fit is King.

Black, White, Brown, Grey, Navy Blue. These COLOURS are the essentials. If you want to start building your wardrobe, start with those colours. They are your must - have. They'll save you time and time again and they give you more freedom with your details. Now im not saying it's not alright to have diverse colours, Lol no! I for one loves colours but these are just the basics, Ill probably dedicate a post to just colours later on.

DETAILS make the outfit and by details here I mean accessories, shoes, hats and the like. What's specialabout details is that its not just having them that matters but actually using them properly. I'd write about a number of them and How best to use them.

I don't joke with my shoes! Lol and I'm sure you don't either. Shoes can be that detail that'll just nail your outfit, from casual shoes to formal shoes, Black and Brown for starters, and there are different types of shoes but we won't be going into the details just yet but good shoes are a slaying essential.

It's basic and a safe move to match your shoes with your belt so yeah, do that and you're safe! There are exceptions yeah but hey, this post is on basics :-p

Also wrist accessories like watches and bracelets are very key! Though some more important than others,  you should have a wrist watch on before you wear a bracelet. It's also important to know that there should be a connection between this things, I mean if your wrist watch is gold, the metal on your belt, or your tie clip, or your cuff links shouldn't be silver. You're not the Olympics. If you wanna do gold, do gold. If otherwise be thorough with it. Yeah it Might seem like a it's no big deal but trust me, it is.

If you're wearing a blazer, pocket squares would do you a lot of good. There are some not so essential details also, the likes of collar tips and sleeve garners but if you have them, use them.

Hatssss!  I looove hats! Lol you must have noticed that by now. It's always cool to have at least a Hat in your wardrobe,  could be a Fedora or a boater hard or a pork pie Hat, hats are badass.

Always pay attention to the most insignificant of things,  even your socks is part of your outfit. I have my reasons which I'd definitely share with you guys later on.

Most people forget to talk about your COLOGNE!  It's not a piece of clothing nor an accessory,  true that, but you sure haven't done justice if you look dressed to the very last detail but you don't smell nice, Naah!  So you should have a very nice and manly Cologne to go with your outfit. It does give confidence as well.

I'm sure there's a lot of things you'd have had me talk more about, I will, not just in this post. This post is just to remind us of the basics we shouldn't get wrong, subsequently I'd talk more know them. :-)

Pull yourself together. Always. Everywhere. Every occassion has minimum standards. Meet them. Surpass them. Have a lovely weekend guys. Feel free to drop your comments , I appreciate every single one of them.

What I wore to LFDW '14.

Hey guyss,
How's the weekend going? Great I trust :-) So I promised to put a post up on what I wore to the Lagos Fashion and design week a couple of days ago and here it is.

DAY 1,
I decided to pull off a rather simple Gatsby inspired look. It was the first day so this was a no drama recipe Lol.  I wore a white pair of jeans, not ripped this time and a white shirt as well, though simple I chipped in some details here and there, a Black and white pair of patent correspondents, typically 20s, a sleeve garnet, an oversized velvet Bowtie and a boater Hat.

DAY 3,
Colours. Lol Day 3 was the day I said there were colours and prints everywhere in my last post, by coincidence maybe, anyway I didn't wanna do the conventional print shirt and shorts or pant trousers only so I used a blazer with it as well, Off white with a lapel pin having some sort of connection with the colours of my print shirt y'know, a dull green pair of pant trousers, brown shoes and aviator shades, trendy stuff. So yeah I wore prints like many other people but I wasn't looking like the many other people.

That felt good ;-)

Day 4,
Today was the grand finale and well everybody was looking great, out to impress! I was thinking dapper so I appeared dapper Lol. Three piece today. My outfit was a navy blue double breasted blazer with gold buttons, part of why i went with brown shoes and the hat, every detail matters, even the buttons, grey pants and waist coat, with wine details, the tie, pocket square and lapel pin. Didn't really feel like wearing my hat so I had it in hand and I prefer carton brown shoes with Navy blue any day so yeah!

Day 2 is missing here because I came terribly late and it was off to the show immediately I got there so I didn't have the time to take a picture :-( . It was my most casual day anyway but well i have a picture with Kachi (www.blackfabulousity.com) so maybe that'll do. The tee is giddi mint, a tweed blazer with a lapel pin, faded grey jeans with brown boots, a brown hat with a really wide brim but somehow Kachi's brim was wider lol.

I'll just drop a picture with my friends from Ghana as well, I'll let you be the judge of their fashion sense.

So thanks sooo much for reading guys :-D, Feel free to drop a comment on what you think, what you'd rock or what you wont. Have a lovely day :-)

Lagos Fashion and design week 2014 - The Runway.

It was a sunny day, on wednesday the 29th of October 2014 the Lagos Fashion and design week 2014 kicked off.
It took place at the Federal Palace hotel from the 29th of October till the 1st of November. I was there the day before when preparations were on and you could already feel the electricity in the air.
I got there at about 5pm on wednesday and Wow! I've been to Federal Palace for one thing or the other a couple of times but this time it was different. Totally different. The atmosphere was amazing. The marquee tents were swarming with photographers, media personnel, Tv presenters, designers, stylists, bloggers, fashion enthusiasts, just name it!!  And the street style man! People were dressed to their toes.
I immediately started seeing many of my friends I hadn't seen in a while and even friends from social networks. Trust me it was exciting.
There were cameras everywhere. Lol like literally. So after a bit of chitchat, interviews and red carpet photos, the show finally started.
Day 1 featured the Fashion Focus finalists and some other designers like Orente Ayaba, April by Kunbi, Phunk Afrique, Soboye, and many more. Breathtaking outfits were displayed on the runway that people literally had to stand up to applaud some of the designers. Impressive. And yeah, front row baby! Lol I could actually spot myself in some of the runway pictures.
We'll be having some runway pictures from all 4 days and these are the ones from Day 1.
Enjoyyy.

Day 2 started pretty slowly for me. I had a very hectic day at school so I got there late. Very late. Missed all the red carpet Glam, Lol well it was actually a green carpet but Hey, at least I didn't miss the show, and I had so much fayrouz, like gallons, there was just fayrouz everywhere Lol maybe God made me come late for the fayrouz (.__.).
Anyway I was particularly excited about day 2 because there was a lot of menswear, Mcmeka, Kenneth Ize, and the like. Other designers that showcased were Dzyn,  Mi-le, Grey and others.

Yas! Day 3 was funn!! I got there earlier today. Lol once bitten, twice shy. Anyway I had time to hang around with friends for a while. Friday was a very colorful day, street style was spot on, prints everywhere and as if it was planned I did some dull colour blocking with prints too. Oh by the way Ill be sharing pictures of what I wore in my next post :) I also met the amazing Yagazie Emezi. She's so down to earth. She was like Hiiii I love your shirt, can I take a picture and in my head I'm like if only you could see the butterflies in my tummy right now lol, in my head oh.
The runway today was amazeballs! Orange culture, Tsemaye Binite, Iconic invanity, Kiki Kamanu,  I was absolutely blown awayy.
Lol your turn to be blown away.

Day 4!!!! The Grand Finale.Well first we started quite late today which wasn't very cool but then it was worth the wait.  The venue was swarminggg with people today and being the grand finale that was understandable.  Everybody was here! Even the big money names like Aliko Dangote , Otedola,  Mrs Fashola, the show today was beautifullllll. More menswear today with the likes of Mai Atafo and the Okunoren twins. I loved the part where Mai took a selfie with his models after the runway session, and the twins did a tribute to Remi Lagos and they made black a different type of beautiful.

All in all, it was a very beautiful experience which I'm definitely not forgetting soon. If you missed it this year you shouldn't miss the next, it's worth it, really. Met a lot of amazing people,  the baddest of the baddest Lol.  The next one should hurry.
Ill be posting about my outfits for all 4 days in my next post so Anticipate!!
Lol thank you for reading. Appreciate it. Feel free to drop your comments on what you like and what you don't.
